Credits and data sources
Bible Matters is built on other people's careful work. This page records what we use, and under what terms.
The Bible text
The Authorised (King James) Version of 1769 is the text shown throughout. It is in the public domain in the United States, and in the United Kingdom it is subject to Crown Letters Patent. No attribution is required, and we record it here for provenance. Every verse is printed as the Authorised Version gives it, with its supplied words in italics.
Cross-references
The Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge (19th century, public domain) supplies the phrase-level cross-references. Supplementary references come from theOpen Bible cross-reference data (openbible.info), whose licence was checked and confirmed clean before use.
Topics
Nave's Topical Bible (1896) and Torrey's New Topical Textbook (1897) supply the topical subjects and prophecy pairs. Both are public domain.
Original languages
Strong's numbering provides the links to the Hebrew and Greek behind the English.
People, places and relationships
Bible people, places and relationships derived from BibleData(Brady Stephenson, github.com/BradyStephenson/bible-data), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Modifications: a subset of the source data, adapted for these study notes.
