Step 1 — The Bible Data Foundation
We have reached a major milestone in the Bible Discovery App project.
The complete foundational schema has now been reviewed, refined and approved by Holly, our implementation/development assistant. The importer has also successfully processed the Bible data with an outstanding 99.948% success rate.
Only three items remain to be corrected: BETH, RESH and JOD in Psalm 119. These are already identified and are in hand.
This means the first and most fundamental step of the Bible Discovery App is now effectively complete: we have a sound, structured and validated foundation on which to build the application.
What we have achieved
✅ The database architecture and schema are defined.
✅ The schema has undergone detailed review and audit.
✅ Holly has passed the final schema.
✅ The Bible importer has successfully run at 99.948%.
✅ The remaining Psalm 119 issues are known, isolated and being corrected.
✅ The structure is designed to support the Bible from book → chapter → verse → word, with the associated study and linguistic data required for deeper discovery.
✅ The project is backed by 29 documents detailing the structure, architecture, specifications, decisions and overall plan for the Discovery Bible App.
Why this matters
This is more than simply getting some Bible text into a database.
We have now established the foundation on which the whole Discovery Bible App can be built. The hard work of deciding how the Bible, its structure and its supporting data should be represented has been done carefully before moving on to the application itself.
The goal remains unchanged:
To make the Bible accessible for discovery — from the ordinary reader opening a passage to the student wanting to explore the words, meanings, connections and riches contained within it.
The milestone
Step 1: FOUNDATION — COMPLETE
- Schema: Passed
- Documentation: 29 documents
- Import: 99.948% successful
- Outstanding data issues: 3, all identified and in hand
- This is a significant moment for the project.
- The Bible Discovery App is no longer just an idea or a collection of specifications. We now have its working foundation.
